Aggravated burglary Dublin

On Wednesday night, 27th April 2011, at approximately 11.30 pm Gardaí from Mountjoy Garda Station responded to a call of aggravated burglary on Botanic Avenue, Dublin 9.

It transpired that 5 males had entered a house there, ransacked it and stole some property.  They also falesly imprisoned the 21 year old male occupant, taking him at knifepoint to his car and driving him to 2 separate ATM machines.  He managed to escape and his car is still missing.  No persons were injured over the course of these events.

The car is a light blue coloured Opel Corsa registration number 07MH1295.

After a follow up investigation Gardaí from the Community Policing and Detective Units at Mountjoy arrested 3 males aged 15, 16 and 18 years in the Botanic Avenue area.  They were taken to the Bridewell and Store Street Garda Stations where they were detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.The 15 year old was released yesterday and a file will be prepared and forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The 16 and 18 year olds have been taken to the Dublin District Juvenile Court (No. 55) where they are at present.

Some of the property taken in the robbery was recovered.
