Traffic arrangements for Magners League game

Magners League Munster v Ospreys Thomond Park, Limerick - Saturday 18th September, 2010

Introduction:

The following is the Traffic Management Plan to cater for Magners League match – MUNSTER v Ospreys at Thomond Park Rugby Stadium, Old Cratloe Road, Limerick City on Saturday evening 18th.September 2010. at 8pm.

Patrons attending are strongly advised to travel early to the City .

There will be a bus service to the grounds  from outside Dunnes Stores, Lower Henry Street (commencing 5pm) or can avail of the Shuttle Bus Service (commencing 4 30pm) to/from the grounds from the Kilmurray Lodge Hotel, Dublin Road, from  City East Plaza, opposite Pat Keoghs Garage, Tipperary Rd , the Maldron Hotel, Southern Ring Rd., and from the Radisson Hotel on the Ennis Rd.   Detailed departure times for all service providers for this event are available on www.thomondpark.ie / www.munsterrugby.ie

GENERAL TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS

1.        Thomond Bridge / Sarsfield Bridge and New Shannon Bridge will remain open to Two Way Traffic throughout the event. Now open to traffic is The New Limerick Tunnel, directions; follow the N18 towards Galway - take Exit 3 (Limerick West/Caherdavin), take 2nd Exit at Clonmacken Roundabout, take 1st Exit at  Jetland Roundabout to Traffic Lights at Ivans Shop, at Caherdavin X ( go straight through jnct)

2.        Traffic travelling out bound (N7) on Sexton Street North towards Old Cratloe Road and past the stadium or intending to turn right at Hassetts Cross northbound along Kileely Road (R464) will not be restricted but due to traffic volume, delays can be expected from as early as 5pm.  Similarly traffic travelling inbound/outbound on N18 can expect to experience delays also

3.        No general parking spaces are available within the grounds and vehicle access to the grounds ( this includes access for vehicles with special needs )  is limited by Pass Only issued by the Stadium Management Parking restrictions will be put in place at / near the Stadium.  Vehicles found in breach are liable to be impounded.

4.        Pre match Road closures and diversions as set out below will come into effect at 4pm and will remain in place until the event has started and for a period afterwards as considered necessary.   Where road closures / diversions apply all public services vehicles [including taxis / hackneys] buses / minibuses and specially adapted [disabled] vehicles and vehicles with Residents Passes will be allowed proceed beyond the road closures / diversions Resident Passes are available at Mayorstone Garda Station.

Diversions:

Traffic travelling inbound along the Ennis Road  and intending to turn left at Ivans for Northern Ring Road (N7) (Brookville Avenue) and traffic travelling North bound from Clonmacken Road intending to proceed towards Northern Ring Road (N7) (Brookville Ave) can expect delays and are liable to be diverted onto the Ennis Road at Ivan’s shop.

Traffic travelling inbound (R464) from Parteen, Moyross, Long Pavement direction will be diverted left onto New Road, Kileely and may be subject to delay / diversion.

Road Closures:

Road Closures will apply between 4pm and 10pm at the following locations;

Ennis Road at its junction / entrance into Lansdowne Park

Shelbourne Road Upper at its junction with Shelbourne Park

Shelbourne Road Upper at its junction with Mayorstone Drive

Old Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Avenue

Old Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Upper

Old Cratloe Road near its junction with Merval Drive
