Incident which occurred at Amiens Street, Dublin on the 9/9/10

Gardaí at Store Street are investigating an incident which occurred at Amiens Street, Dublin 1 at approximately 1.35am today (9/9/10)

A taxi was hailed in Ballybrack, Co. Dublin a short time earlier by two men who asked to be taken to Amiens Street, Dublin 1.

At Amiens Street the two men attacked and assaulted the male taxi driver and then drove off in the taxi. 

Gardaí were alerted and arrived at the scene, they spoke to the taxi driver who was in a very distressed state. The taxi driver was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

In a follow up operation the taxi was stopped by Gardaí in Finglas. Five males were arrested (two 18 year olds, 16 yrs, 17yrs and 21yrs)

All five were all detained in Finglas Garda Station.

Two 18 year old youths are due in Blanchardstown Court on 8th October 2010 charged in connection with this investigation.


The 21 year old male due is in Blanchardstown District Court on the 8th October 2010 charged in connection with this investigation.


The 16 and 17 year old youths will be dealt with under the Juvenile Liaison Scheme.
Investigations are continuing.
