Gardai in Baltinglass arrested 2 men aged 36 and 52 years following the search of a van at approximately 8.15pm on the 12 May 2010.
In the course of the search of the van Gardai recovered 2 firearms (a machine gun and a handgun), and a quantity of ammunition.
The men are being detained at Baltinglass Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
In a separate incident yesterday (13th May), as part of a planned search Gardai in Tallaght recovered 2 rifles and a quantity of ammunition in a laneway at Hazel Grove, Kilinarden. The rifles are believed to have been taken in the course of a burglary in Wexford in 2009.
No-one has been arrested in relation to the recovery of the rifles yet.
