Presentation of cheque by Gardaí to Sunshine Home, Leopardstown Road, Stillorgan on the 14/5/10

In July 2009 four members of the Dublin Metropolitan Region East, Gavin Fleet, Amy Cummins, Ronan Goggin and Edward Magee decided to try and raise much needed funds for the Sunshine home in Leopardstown.

The Sunshine Home provide respite care for terminally ill children and provides a great deal of support for the parents of said children.

The four Gardaí decided to take a plunge in the deep end and do an Olympic length triathlon, a 1500m sea swim, a 46k cycle and a 10k run.

The four entered the Lough Ine triathlon in Baltimore, West Cork which is generally acknowledged to be one of the country's most challenging.

Of the four, three managed to complete the the task, Edward Magee having been injured during the months of training preceeding the main event.

After a great deal of effort by all concerned, €4,600 were raised for the Sunshine Home with Sergeant Con Mulhall of Kill O'Grange Garda Station putting a great deal of effort into the fundraising.

Presentation of cheque will take place at 12pm today, the 14 May 2010 at the Sunshine Home, Leopardstown Road, Stillorgan. Philomena Dunne, Emer McCooey and Sarah Magher will accept the cheque. Gavin Fleet, Amy Cummins and Ronan Goggin will also attend.
