Investigation into the fatal shooting of Anthony Cannon in Ballyfermot on the 17/7/09 - Update

The man in his 30's who was arrested in relation to the Anthony Cannon investigation was released without charge last night and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A second man, 32 years old, was arrested in Dublin City Centre yesterday afternoon, the 18/5/10 in relation to the same investigation.

He remains in custody at Ballyfermot Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act.

Gardai in Ballyfermot investigating the fatal shooting of Anthony Cannon in Ballyfermot on the 17 July 2009 have arrested a man in his early 30's this morning, the 17 May 2010.

The man is being detained in Ballyfermot Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Gardai at Ballyfermot are investigating the fatal shooting of a male in his mid 20's which occurred at Saint Mary's Avenue West, Ballyfermot, Dublin, shortly before 4.00pm this afternoon - 17 July 2009.

Gardai responding to a call discovered a man with serious injuries.

The man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

The area has been sealed off and the man's body remains at the scene.

A Garda Press Office briefing will take place at Ballyfermot Garda Station at 8.00pm this evening.
