Investigation into the death of Emer O'Loughlin, found burnt in Clare on the 8/4/05 - Exhumation

Gardaí investigating the death of Emer O'Loughlin are exhuming her body this morning, 19 May 2010, to carry out further forensic tests which have now become possible because of scientific advances.

Emer O’ Loughlin was a 23 year old woman whose body was found in a burnt out mobile home at Ballybornagh, Tubber, Co. Clare on 8 April 2005.

The exhumation today and the tests that will follow are part of a continuing investigation by Gardai from Gort assisted by the Serious Crime Review Team.

The cause of the death of Emer O'Loughlin has not been determined todate and the exhumation will facilitate further examinations by a forensic anthropologist.

Gardai investigating the death believe that there are people who may have information which could assist the investigators in establishing the cause of Emer’s death.
