Fatal shooting at Shillelagh, Wicklow on the 1/7/10

Gardai in Baltinglass are investigating all the circumstances surrounding an incident in which a man in his 60’s sustained gunshot wounds at a house at Cronelea, Shillelagh, Co. Wicklow at approximately 6.30pm this evening 1 July 2010.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. (His body remains at scene).

A firearm was recovered at the scene and a man in his early 60’s was arrested and is being detained at Baltinglass Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

The scene has been sealed off and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
