Drug seizure and arrests in the south inner city of Dublin on the 24/6/10 - Court appearance

The man in his 30's who was being detained at Kevin Street under the Drug Trafficking Act  is due to appear in Court 4 (Courts of Criminal Justice new building) in Dublin at 4.15pm this afternoon 1st July 2010, to be charged in connection with the incident for which he was arrested.

Following a further analysis of the drugs seized during this operation, the estimated street value of the cocaine is now approximately €2m.

With reference to the press release from earlier today.

The factory is located in the Tallaght area.

The three people arrested remain in custody.

Gardai at Kevin Street investigating organised crime in the south inner city, searched a number of addresses in the Tallaght, Walkinstown and Crumlin areas yesterday evening, the 24th June 2010.

The searches  resulted from an intelligence driven operation.

Two males and one female in their early 30's were arrested and are currently detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act, at Kevin Street and Kilmainham Garda Stations.

A sophisticated cocaine factory was uncovered during these searches, and cocaine with a potential street Value of €200,000 (subject to analysis) was seized.

A substantial amount of cash was also seized.

Investigations are continuing.
