Bank robbery in Granard, Longford on the 15/7/10

Gardaí at Granard, Longford, are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at Ulster Bank on Market Street yesterday evening, Thursday, the 15th July 2010.

The incident occurred at approximately 5pm, just as the bank was closing.

Three (3) men entered the bank and demanded money.

One was armed with what was believed to be a pistol and another was armed with a knife.

A male member of staff was assaulted during the course of the robbery and the culprits got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The injured man was taken to Mullingar General Hospital with minor injuries and was subsequently discharged.

No shots were fired and no arrests have been made to date.

No direction of travel of the culprits and all 3 were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered.

Anyone who was in the area of the bank itself or on the Ballinalee Road, Market Square or Colmcille Terrace between 4pm and 5.20pm and who may have seen something they feel is relevant to the robbery are asked to contact Gardaí at Granard on 043 6687660, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
