Aggravated burglary in Sixmilebridge, Clare on the 7/1/10 - Witness appeal

Gardai are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary at a house in Ardkyle, Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare on the 7th January 2010 at 22.45 hrs.

A man armed with what is believed to have been a shotgun and wearing a balaclava  entered the home of a woman in her 50's at Ardkyle.  Also present in the house were the householder's two sons aged 14 and 10 years.  The raider threatened the family and demanded cash.  No cash was taken, however a laptop and two mobile phones were stolen during the incident. The raider made his escape on foot and is described as tall and well built.  The scene is being preserved for technical examination which will be carried out today.


Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious between 22.00 hrs and midnight in the Ardkyle, Sixmilebridge area to contact them. The townland of Ardkyle is located just off the N18 on a side road off the main Sixmilebridge/Shannon road. Anyone with information in respect of this is asked to contact the Gardai at Shannon on 061 365900.
