Fatal shooting in Finglas, Dublin on the 9/10/09 - Arrest

Gardai in Finglas investigating the fatal shooting of David Thomas on the 9th October 2009 at Main Street, Finglas, have arrested a man.

A male aged in 20's was arrested this morning, 11/2/10, and is currently detained at Finglas Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Gardai in Finglas investigating last night's shooting incident (previous release below refers) are appealing to the public for information.

It is believed that following the shooting a man ran from the scene near the Drake Inn public house, down towards the Allied Irish Bank in Finglas where he got into a dark blue Opel Corsa near a taxi rank.

The car was then driven to Glasmeen Park close to Johnstown Park in Finglas, where it was abandoned and burned out.


Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the Drake Inn public house or the nearby Centra shop in Finglas between 7pm and 8.40pm when the shooting occurred and may have noticed anything unusual to contact Finglas Garda station on 6667500.

In addition Gardai are also appealling to anyone who may have witnessed the car being abandoned in Glasmeen Court at approximately 8.45pm or anyone leaving the scene on foot to contact Gardai at Finglas or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-66-111.

Gardai in Finglas have launched an investigation following a shooting incident in Finglas.

A male believed to be in his 40’s was fatally injured after he received a number of gunshot wounds outside a pub in Main Street in Finglas.

The scene has been sealed off for technical examination and the services of the State pathologist have been notified.
