Fatal road traffic collision at Donaghbeg, Leitrim on the 12/2/2010

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Gardaí in Manorhamilton on 071-9820620, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

 

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Donaghbeg on the N16 between Manorhamilton and Glenfarne, Co. Leitrim at approximately 9.15am this morning 12th of February 2010.

The collision involved a lorry and a car.  A passenger in the car, a 9 year old boy, was fatally injured.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 40s, was taken to Sligo General Hospital, where she is being treated for what is believed to be non life threatening injuries.

The driver of the lorry, a man in his 30's, was not seriously injured.

The N16 road is currently closed for a Garda technical examination between Manorhamilton and Glenfarne.  Traffic diversions are in place.
