Fatal shooting in Finglas, Dublin on the 14/8/10 - Update

Gardai in Finglas have issued a description of the person they are looking for in relation to last night's shooting incident.

The man is described as being 5'9" to 6' in height, of thin build and wearing a grey/blue tracksuit top, a dark baseball cap and white gloves.

Following the shooting the man escaped on foot in the direction of Tolka Valley.

In a search of the area conducted immediately following the shooting Gardai discovered a handgun which is believed to have been the one used in the shooting (subject to technical and ballistic examination).

Gardai are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Barnamore Crescent or Saint Helena’s Road in Finglas or may have passed through the area between approximately 6.30pm and 7.10pm, or may have any information to contact Finglas Garda Station on 01-666 7500, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí at Finglas are investigating a shooting incident at the junction of Barnamore Crescent and Saint Helena’s Road Finglas, Dublin 11 at approximately 6.50pm this evening 14th August 2010.

A male who is believed to be in his 20’s was shot at the scene, he was removed to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown and was pronounced dead a short time later.

The area has been sealed off pending a technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
