Drug seizures and arrests in Dublin on the 24 & 25/8/10

Gardai have arrested two men and seized a quantity of drugs in an operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Dublin area.

On the 24th August 2010 a van was stopped on Arran Quay in Dublin City centre, Gardai seized 200 kgs of what is believed to cannabis resin, which subjest to analysis may be worth on the region of €1.4 million.  The driver of the van, a 60 year old man, was arrested and is detained at the Bridewell Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.


At 10.00 p.m. on the 25th August 2010, as part of a follow up operation, Gardai searched a premises at an industrial estate near Rathcoole.  A further quantity of cannabis was recovered.  Subject to analysis the street value of this seizure is estimated to be €400,000.  A 40 year old man was arrested at the scene.  He is detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Clondalkin Garda Station.
