Seizure of cigarettes at Mullingar, Westmeath on the 15/9/09

Investigations are being carried out to establish if the cigarettes are counterfeit.

Gardai have seized a quantity of cigarettes on the M4 near Mullingar, Co. Westmeath this evening, the 15th of September 2009.  Gardai stopped and searched a van at Cullionbeg, Mullingar at 5.35pm.

A quantity of Cigarettes with an estimated value of €100,000 was seized.  Investigations are being carried out  to establish if the cigarettes are counterfeit.

A man in his twenties who was the driver and only occupant of the van was questioned in relation to the incident.
