Gardai investigating the death of Edward Gallagher in Friar's Walk, Cork on the 15/2/09 - Arrest.

Gardai in Anglesea Street, Cork are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a seriously injured man in the Friar's Walk area of Cork City.

 

Gardaí investigating the death of 27 year old Edward Gallagher of Hollyhill in the Friar's Walk area of Cork city in the early hours of the 15th of February have this morning arrested a man in his 20s.

He was arrested on the north side of Cork city and is being held in the Bridewell station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardai in Anglesea Street, Cork are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a seriously injured man in the Friar's Walk area of Cork City this morning the 15th February, 2009 at about 7a.m.

Gardai were alerted to the incident by ambulance control. The male, in his late 20's was removed to Cork University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8 a.m.

The area is sealed off and crime scene examiners from the Garda Technical Bureau have been requested. The State Pathologist has been notified of the discovery.

There is no further information at present but updates will be provided as information becomes available.
