Double robbery and arrests at Clondalkin on the 6/2/09.

On the 6/2/09, three men entered a supermarket in the Fonthill Retail Park in Clondalkin.

At approximately 9pm last night, the 6/2/09, three men entered a supermarket in the Fonthill Retail Park in Clondalkin armed with what appeared to be a handgun.

They threatened a cashier and left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A silver coloured Volvo was used in their getaway.

Immediately afterwards three members of the same gang entered an off licence attached to a bar on the Fonthill Road, Clondalkin.

Again they produced what appeared to be a handgun and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Local units and the Crime Task Force managed to stop the silver coloured Volvo used in these robberies in nearby Collinstown Park.

Four males got out of the car and ran. They were arrested after a short pursuit on foot and are presently detained at Ballyfermot and Lucan Garda stations under section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act.

All four are in their early 30's.

The cash taken in both robberies, an imitation firearm and a number of balaclavas were recovered in the car.

The scenes at the supermarket, bar and car recovery are being preserved for technical examinations.

No persons were injured during the course of these incidents.
