The name of the deceased from the fatal road collision at Gorteen, Castledermot, Kildare this morning is Marian Ionescu, 28 years, Parnell Street, Dublin 1.

Gardaí at Castledermot are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that happened at 8.20 a.m. this morning 29th January, 2008 on the main N9 road at Gorteen, Vacan, Castledermot, Co. Kildare.
A man was killed when the car he was driving crossed over to the other side of the road and hit an oncoming vehicle. The deceased was 29 years of age and was the sole occupant of his car. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
The body of the deceased is still at scene and will be removed to the Naas General Hospital.
One side of the road is closed to traffic and it is hoped that traffic will be moving freely in the next hour.
