Robbery at Cornelscourt, Dublin on the 24/2/08 - and renewed appeal

Gardai at Cabinteely Garda Station are renewing their appeal for information about a robbery at Dunnes Stores Shopping Centre, Cornelscourt, Dublin.

 

Gardai at Cabinteely Garda Station in Co. Dublin, are renewing their appeal for information about a robbery at Dunnes Stores Shopping Centre, Cornelscourt on Sunday, 24 February 2008.

The robbery occured shortly after 4p.m. on Sunday afternoon. A security company employee was forced at gunpoint to open ATM machines and a substantial amount of cash was taken in the robbery. The employee was then bound and gagged and the two men alleged to have been involved made their way from the scene.  The security man freed himself a short time later and alerted his employer, who contacted Gardai.

Gardaí are examining CCTV in the area and are appealling for anyone who was in the vicinity of Dunnes Stores over Saturday evening and Sunday to come forward to them. They are particularly appealling to anyone who might have seen the two suspects. They are described as:



1.   20 - 25 years, 5'9'', stocky build, Irish accent, he wore a blue trousers, grey hoodie, a black scarf around his face and carried a black pistol type firearm with a silver handel.

2.   25 - 30 years, 6'3'' to 6'4'', Irish accent and dark eyes, he wore a black leather jacket with a hood.

Gardai at Cabinteely Garda Station in Co. Dublin, are investigating a robbery that occurred shortly after 4p.m. on Sunday the 24th Of February 2008 at Dunnes Stores Shopping Centre at Cornelscourt.  A substantial amount of cash was taken in the robbery.

A security company employee was accosted by two men in the car park area and forced at gunpoint into the area of the complex where the ATM's are filled.  He was forced to open the machines and the cash was removed.

The security company employee was then bound and gagged and the 2 men made their way from the scene.  It is not known what mode of transport they used.  The security man freed himself a short time later and alerted his employer, who contacted Gardai.

The raiders are described as:

1.   20 - 25 years, 5'9'', stocky build, Irish accent, he wore a blue trousers, grey hoodie, a black scarf around his face and carried a black pistol type firearm with a silver handel.

2.   25 - 30 years, 6'3'' to 6'4'', Irish accent and dark eyes, he wore a black leather jacket with a hood.

Gardai are currently investigating the incident and CCTV in the area is being examined as part of the investigation.  Garda at Cabinteely Garda Station are appealing for information and are asking anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity of Dunnes Stores over Saturday evening and Sunday to contact them on 01 666 5400 or to contact the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111.
