Traffic management plan: Country Crest Skerries 100 Motorcycle Road Races

Traffic management plan for the forthcoming Country Crest Skerries 100 Motorcycle Road Races 2026.

This is the 80th running of the Skerries 100, and it is a long-running and much-loved event that brings significant activity to the area and is being run in 2026 after a 4 year gap. Known locally as “the bikes”, if you are new to Skerries and are travelling the main Skerries to Lusk Road you will see in this road start to change with safety equipment being placed by volunteers.

Road Closure Times

  • Saturday 4 July 2026 (12:00pm – 8:30pm)
  • Sunday 5 July 2026 (8:00am – 6:30pm)

While the event is a highlight of the local calendar, some key routes will be restricted. This guide explains how to travel safely and efficiently around the area during these times. With a little forward planning and awareness of the diversion routes, residents and newcomers alike can continue to get around safely while enjoying the weekend atmosphere.

What Roads Are Affected?

The main closure impacts a section of the R127 between Lusk and Skerries, along with surrounding roads forming the race circuit:

  • Loughshinny Road between Baldongan and Balcunnin Cross

Important: Local access for residents will still be maintained where possible, but some delays maybe expected.
