Open Competition of Carpenter / Maintenance in the Garda College, Templemore, Tipperary.

The Garda College is the national centre for police training, development and learning within the Irish State. It is a modern campus structure set over eight acres. The campus which is a purpose built residential training facility comprises of four lecture theatres, 17 classrooms, IT facilities, a mock courtroom, a mock Garda Station, physical testing facilities, library, study area, and a restaurant with a seating capacity for 400. There is accommodation for 493 people with an additional 240 acres of undeveloped land available for tactical and operational training exercises. 

Job Specifications: 

The role of the carpenter will include, but is not limited to:

  • Carpentry tasks assigned by College Facilities Office,
  • Cleaning and maintenance of all College areas,
  • Grass cutting, maintenance of car park, hedgerows,
  • Building maintenance,
  • Litter picking and any other general duties,
  • Preparing the college for major events such as conferences, graduations etc.
  • Moving furniture within the college,
  • Collection / emptying of refuse bins daily,
  • Assist in the College Store,
  • Assist the College Tradesmen,
  • Maintain the swimming pool, surrounds and pool plant room in accordance with standard guidelines,
  • Reporting of any hazards identified in the workplace or remove the hazard if in a position to do so, Under the Safety, Health & Welfare Work Act.

Open Competition of a Stores Officer in the Garda National Technical Bureau, Phoenix Park, Dublin.

An Garda Síochána seeks to employ a Stores Officer for the Garda National Technical Bureau in Garda Headquarters, Phoenix Park, Dublin 8, to manage the inventory/stock of the Bureau. 

The Stores Officer will primarily be responsible for:

  • Preparation of requests for tender (RFT) documents for equipment and evaluating RFTs
  • Maintenance of accounts in accordance with management procedures,
  • Tendering & Procurement in line with EU and Irish Procurement guidelines - Stock control Management
  • Ensuring compliance with Finance guidelines
  • Ensuring compliance with Garda, National and EU procurement policies and legislation
  • Ensuring compliance with Tax requirements
  • Liaison with GNTB management, Finance and Procurement
  • Management of records and information management systems
  • Management of centralised stock and asset control
  • Issuing of equipment to National CSI units and GNTB
  • Validation of monthly transaction reports
  • Setting and implementing standards within GNTB Stores in respect of ISO, Garda and Departmental audits
    Key holding responsibility
  • Receiving and validating orders. Facilitation of deliveries to the Bureau outside normal working hours and other related administrative duties.
  • Responsibility for ensuring the repair and replacement of equipment
  • Participation in continuous professional development in the areas of information systems and procurement regulations
  • Any other necessary duties arising out of the future development of the stores function - Any other duties as determined by D/Superintendent GNTB
