Cork City Garda Traffic Management for events held from 20th -26th June 2019

Cork City Garda Traffic Management - 20th to 26th of June 2019

A number of events are being held in Cork City over the weekend of the 21st to the 22nd of June 2019 which will require traffic restrictions and diversions. We would advise persons who are going to any of these three events to utilise public transport or car parks in the area. 

Cork v Kerry (Munster Senior and Minor Football Championship Finals  Páirc Uí Chaoímh – Saturday 22nd of June 2019

There are two matches on in Pairc Ui Chaoimh at 4.30 pm and 7 pm.  Traffic restrictions will be in place

Road Closures

From 12:45 pm parts of Monaghan Road, Centre Park Rd, Maryville and the Marina will be closed, as follows.
•           Ardfoyle / Park Avenue

•           Blackrock Road / Maryville

•           Monahan’s Road / Link Road

•           Marina / Church Avenue

•           Centre Park Road Link Road

•           Boreenmanna Rd/ Churchyard Lane, (access for residents only).

•           Blackrock Rd/Churchyard Lane, (access for residents only).

From 4 pm further road restrictions will be in place in the vicinity of the stadium.

Drop Off Points

The drop off area for taxis is on Victoria Road, just before Marina Walk.
Bus Eireann Shuttle buses will drop of at Monaghan Road, before the junction with Link Road.
All other large Public Service Vehicles are to set down and pick up on the Boreenmanna Road, near the Maxol filling station.

Disabled Parking

Request for disabled parking should be made through the GAA. Match ticket holders with allocated disabled parking passes are to approach via Centre Park Road. A limited number of wheel chair accessible taxis will be allowed down to the venue after the match.

Transport – media message

Bus Éireann shuttle buses will run from Lapps Quay to Monaghan. Gardaí are advising people to utilise this facilitate as there is no parking around the stadium. The cost for the bus is normal city fare of €2.70, Leap cards may be used. Please note that this is a single trip and no return busses are running. Bus Eireann -  Route 202 and Route 215 buses cater for the area.  Updated timetable is available from www.buseireann.ie

Stadium Route

The stadium can be accessed from the City centre via Centre Park Road and Monahan Road, 15 minute walk to stadium.

The stadium can be accessed from the Boreenmanna Road Via, Churchyard lane, Maryville., 10 minute walk to stadium

The 202 Bus travels from the city to Blackrock village. Drops and picks up at Ballintemple, 2 minute walk to stadium, via Maryville.

From Blackrock GAA via Church Rd, Blackrock Rd, Maryville, 15 minute walk.

From Cork Camogie via Castle Rd, Blackrock village, Marina, 15 minute walk.

After The Matches

Gardaí will be at their traffic points to assist with egress from the stadium.  Gardaí have asked - following the game that everyone follows the direction of Gardaí and stewards. The attendance is expected to be in the region of 25,000 so we would ask for everyone to have patience when leaving the stadium and its environs.

Parking is available at Cork City Council and Q-Park Carparks:-

Paul St Car Park – open until midnight
North Main Street Car Park
Bessboro Car Park, Mahon Industrial Estate.
St Finbarr’s Wandsford Quay
Patricks Quay Car Park
Q-Park Carroll’s Quay – open 24hrs
Q-Park Grand Parade – open 24hrs
Q-Park City Hall – open 24hrs
Q-Park St Finbarrs – open 24hrs
 

2. Live at the Marquee

We advise persons going to the One Day Concert at Live at the Marquee of the road closures and restrictions in place for the Cork v Kerry Games. 
 
3. Concerts at Independent Park 20th to 26th June 2019  

A number of concerts will be held at Independent Park, Tramore Road, Ballyphehane, Cork from Thursday the 20th of June to Wednesday the 26th of June – 6 concerts in total. To facilitate these concerts a number of traffic restrictions will be put in place.

Traffic Restrictions

There will be 6 concerts at Independent Park from 20th to 26th June 2019. Enclosed is the traffic management plan for the event and we hope that everyone attending has a safe and enjoyable day.

Gardaí would recommend that anyone attending avail of public transport or walk.

There will be traffic delays, so avoid the area if possible.

Disabled parking ticket holders to approach via Pearse Road.

Please remember to respect the local residents and businesses when coming and going from Independent Park.

GENERAL TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS

Road Closures

From 3pm the following will be closed;

Junction of Kinsale Rd and Tramore Rd;

Junction of Kinsale Rd and Pearse Rd;

Junction of Tramore Rd and Lower Friars Walk.

Junction of Pearse rd and Connolly Rd;

Junction of Botanic Rd and Tory Top Rd;

Junction of Kent Rd and Tory Top Rd.

Local access for residents will be maintained. 

Parking & Drop off Area

Vehicles wishing to drop off people attending the concert should use the designated Set down and Pick up area on the Tramore Road. Access to Tramore Road via Togher Slip Road from N40 east or west.

No access from Kinsale Road. Egress from set down area on Tramore Road,  take a  left onto Lower Friars Walk, left from lower Friars Walk onto Connolly Road and left at traffic lights onto Lower Pouladuff Road to return to N40 east or west.

•             St Finbarr’s Wandsford Quay.

•             City Hall

•             Patricks Quay

•             Blackash Park and Ride

Transport:

The drop off area for taxis is the green on left of Curragh Rd as you pass junction of Tory Top Rd/ Pearse Rd. 

Bus Eireann Shuttle buses will operate services from City Centre via Merchants Quay, Patrick St., Grand Parade, South Mall, City Hall to park n ride site - every 10 minutes throughout the day last bus departing City Centre at 20:30.  Please note on Sunday 23rd June this bus will operate every 10 minutes from 16:00 to 20:30 All other large Public Service Vehicles are to set down and pick up on Curragh Rd outside CCFC.

RETURN BUS: from Park n Ride at Blackash every 10 minutes from 22:00 to 23:30

Route 203: (Farranree – City Centre -  Ballyphehane) will drop you within walking distance to Independent Park full timetable available at www.buseireann.ie/corkcityservices 

The cost for the bus is normal city fare of €2.40 for adult and €1.40 for a child, Leap cards may be used. Please note that this is a single trip and no return buses are running.

After The Event

Following the concert we would ask that everyone follows the direction of Gardaí and stewards. The attendance is expected to be in the region of 12,000 each night so we would ask for everyone to have patience when leaving the stadium and its environs and be respectful to residents.

Public Transport & Parking

Parking and bus/car pick up and drop off will be located at the Blackash carpark.  Bus Eireann will be providing a shuttle bus service for the event between Irish Independent Park and the City Centre.
