Connacht Football Final 16 June 2019

Connacht Football Final 16 June 2019

Traffic Management Plan

There are two matches on this date; the first match is at 1pm and the Senior Final is at 4pm.

An Garda Síochána will implement a local area Traffic Management Plan and this will result in a number of access roads in the residential areas adjacent to Pearse Stadium being closed. It is important to note that only residents with Car Pass Permits and those with Official Car Park Passes will be allowed access to those Residential areas.

Car Parks & Public Transport

There are ample Car Parks in Galway City and Salthill and we encourage patrons to use these car parks and walk or take public transport to/from Salthill.

The 401 Bus from Eyre Square to Salthill will operate every 20 minutes throughout the day. There will be extra service to and from Salthill as it serves a location less than 10 minutes’ walk from Pearse Stadium.

Only buses that depart Salthill at or before 18:00 will guarantee connection with the 19:25 train to Oranmore, Athenry, Attymon, Woodlawn, Ballinasloe, Athlone, Roscommon and Castlerea.

Normal Bus Eireann city service fares will apply on the route.

Outside of 13:00 to 19:00, the normal scheduled route will operate on 401.  For inbound

Garda Traffic Cordon

Pearse Stadium will open to patrons at 12pm and a Garda Traffic Cordon will be in place restricting vehicular access to residents and permit holders only from 12pm until 7.00pm. Barriers will be in place on either end of Dr Mannix Road, at Rockbarton Road, at Dalysfort Road and on Rosary Lane. There will be no through traffic on any of these routes between the times indicated.

We ask all Supporters to arrive early, to park in the designated Car Parks and to park legally and responsibly, at all times. Designated Car Parks will be signposted.

Recommended Traffic Access Route

It is expected that the majority of both visiting supporters will approach the city via the M6 and it is recommended that they continue on M6/N6 route across Quincentenary Bridge and continue along Bishop O'Donnell Road. Progress through the city (unless intending to park and walk/bus to Salthill) is not recommended as the pedestrian crossing at Spanish Arch will be particularly busy on Sunday as will the retail parks and supermarkets on city part of Headford Road.

Finally, we appeal to all Supporters to be conscious, mindful and respectful to the needs of our neighbours and local residents.
