An Garda Síochána Garda Reserve Strategy 2021-2025

An Garda Síochána is pleased to publish An Garda Síochána’s Garda Reserve Strategy 2021-2025.

The Garda Reserve, established in 2006, represents a unique opportunity for anyone wishing to support policing and give back to their communities. It offers people from all backgrounds a policing experience.

The Garda Reserve Strategy 2021-2025 / Straitéis Chúltaca an Gharda Síochána 2021-2025 provides a roadmap to deliver the necessary changes to enable the Garda Reserve to support full-time members of An Garda Síochána in delivering a community focused policing service, promote diversity within our organisation, and make the role of the Garda Reserve a worthwhile commitment for people from our communities who voluntarily give their time to help make our communities safe.

The Garda Reserve Strategy 2021-2025 / Straitéis Chúltaca an Gharda Síochána 2021-2025 is based on commitments to six key objectives:

  • Recruit Reserve Gardaí
  • Training and Development
  • The Role and Deployment of Reserve Gardaí
  • Oversight and Governance
  • Value our People
  • Evaluation

These six key objectives are essential for the development of the Garda Reserve through to 2025 and beyond.

Through this strategy, An Garda Síochána will ensure that Reserve Gardaí perform their duty to the highest standard as valued members of An Garda Síochána to deliver a  proactive, high visibility policing service  which contributes to keeping people safe.
