An Garda Síochána Child Safeguarding Statement (26/9/18)

The Children First Act 2015 designates An Garda Síochána as a “Provider of Relevant Service” to children.  As such, in accordance with section 11 of the Children First Act 2015, An Garda Síochána is required to prepare and maintain a Child Safeguarding Statement.

The Child Safeguarding Statement is an important document. It is a statement of our intent to ensure, as far as practicable, that a child interacting with the organisation is safe from harm. It also includes an assessment of the risk of harm to a child while availing of the service and specifies the procedures in place to manage any identified risks.
