An Garda Síochána Traffic Management Plan Luke Combs Slane Castle Concerts 2026

On Saturday 18th of July 2026 and Sunday 19th of July 2026 Luke Combs brings his “My kinda Saturday Night” World Tour to Slane Castle, County Meath for an open air concert.

For the first time in history back to back concert dates take place at the famous Slane Castle, A major Garda policing plan will be in operation for the duration of the concert weekend.  The aim of An Garda Síochána is to ensure the safety of all local residents and the safety of the large influx of visitors who travel to Slane to enjoy the concert.   The Policing Operation will begin on Friday the 17th of July 2026 and will continue throughout the weekend.

Traffic Diversions:

An Garda Síochána have worked closely with official event organisers, bus companies and Meath County Council to develop a traffic plan which aims to ensure the safety of all over the concert weekend.  Traffic diversions will be in place for the duration of the concert weekend.  Priority will be given to Official Public Transport and Patrons are strongly advised to use Official Bus Transport. 

An Garda Síochána’s traffic plan includes;

Saturday 18th of July 2026

  •  At 12:30pm on 18th of July 2026 all roads into Slane will be closed.
  • These road closures will remain in place until approximately 2:00 a.m. on Sunday the 19th of July when the concert is over and all patrons have safely left.

Sunday 19th of July 2026

  •  At 12:30pm on 19th of July 2026 all roads into Slane will be closed.
  • These road closures will remain in place until approximately 2:00 a.m. on Monday 20th of July 2026 when the concert is over and all patrons have safely left.
  • Gardaí will be on duty at key junctions to stop and redirect traffic where necessary.
  • No parking will be permitted on roadsides and cars will be towed away.

 Travelling to the Concert

Car Parks

There are five Official car parks located on the Navan Road (Red Car Park 1 and Red Car Park 2), Dublin Rd (Green Car Park), Collon Road (Blue Car Park) and Drogheda Rd (Pink Car Park).  

 The VIP and the Disabled Car Park are located on the Navan Road.

 There is a drop off and collection point at the Collon Road (Blue Car Park), Navan Road (Red Car Park 2)the Dublin Road (Green Car Park) and the Drogheda Road (Pink Car Park).  The drop off and collection point on the Navan Road is located at Red Car Park 2.   Car park conditions are weather dependant and limitations may apply therefore the use of Public Transport is highly recommended. Priority will be given to Official public transport and patrons can expect possible delays on exiting car parks.

 Dublin - (Bus Eirann and Marathon)

 Patrons travelling to the Concert from Dublin on Bus Eireann and Marathon will travel towards Slane on the Dublin Road (N2) and passengers will disembark at the Green Bus Depot (Fennor Cross).

 Patrons travelling to the Concert on Bus Eireann from Drogheda will travel towards Blue Bus Park at Grasslands.

 Patrons travelling to the Concert on Marathon Coaches from Navan will travel to Slane and passengers will disembark at the Red Bus Depot (Roadstone).

 Private Bus/Coaches

 All private buses/coaches including mini-buses must book into a dedicated bus park including private mini buses.

 Private buses and coaches travelling to the Blue Bus Park (Grasslands) will travel to Slane via Collon on the N2.

 Private buses and coaches travelling to Red Bus Depot (Roadstone) will travel to Slane via Navan on the N51.

 All private buses/coaches including mini-buses must book into a dedicated bus park including private mini buses.

 No Bus Transport will be permitted to travel to Slane using the Kells Road (R163) or Drogheda Road (N51).

 Cars and Taxis

 Patrons travelling to the Concert on the M1 Motorway from Dublin using private cars and taxis will exit at Drogheda North / Slane (Junction 10) and travel towards Slane on the Drogheda Road and park or drop off in the Pink Car Park (Drogheda Road). 

 Patrons travelling to the Concert on the M1 Motorway from the North using private cars and taxis will exit at the Collon/Dunleer exit (Junction 12) and travel towards Slane via Collon on the N2 to the Blue Car Park and park or drop off. 

Patrons travelling to the Concert from Dublin on the N2 using private cars and taxis will travel towards Slane to the Green Cark Park (Dublin Rd/ McGruders Cross) and park or drop off.

 Patrons travelling to the Concert via Navan using private cars and taxis will travel towards Slane on the Navan Road (N51).  Private Cars will park at the Red Car Park 1 and 2 (Navan Road).  Taxis and private cars dropping off patrons will do so at Red Car Park 2 on the Navan Road (N51).

 No private cars or taxis will be permitted to travel to Slane using the Kells Road (R163).

 Exiting the Concert

 All transport using the Collon Road (N2) (Blue Bus Depot & Blue Car/taxi Park) will exit onto the N2 and travel North towards Collon.

 All transport using the Drogheda Road (Pink Car Park & taxi Park) will exit onto the Drogheda Road (N51) and travel towards Drogheda.

 All official Dublin Shuttle buses using the Green Bus Depot (Dublin Road) will travel on the Fennor Road towards Drogheda and the M1.

 All Private Coaches that travelled via Dublin will be parked in the Green Car Park and at the end of the concert these Private Coaches will exit onto the N2 and travel back towards Dublin.

 All private cars & taxis using the Green Car Park (Dublin Road N2) will exit the car park onto the N2 and travel back towards Dublin.

 All buses using the Red Bus Depot (Roadstone) will exit onto the Kells Road (R163) and travel towards Kilberry.  No buses will be permitted exit onto the Navan Road (N51).

 All private cars using the Red Car Parks 1 and 2, VIP & Disabled car parks will exit onto the Navan Road (N51) and travel towards Navan.

 Private cars intending to collect patrons following concert are required to return to same drop off location (Pink Car Park, Blue Car Park, Green Car Park or Red Car 2) by 8pm

Non-Event Traffic

  • Non-Event Traffic travelling up the N2 from Dublin will be diverted by VMS signage at Kilmoon Cross towards Drogheda M1.
  • Non Event Traffic travelling the N2 from the North will be directed by VMS Signage towards the M1 in Ardee, at Daly’s Cross (North of Collon, Junction of R169 / N2) and again in Collon Village.
  • Non-Event Traffic approaching Slane from Drogheda will be diverted via Collon.
  • Non-Event Traffic approaching from Kells will be diverted by signage via Navan.
  • Motorists who need to travel between Navan and Drogheda should follow signage directing them Via Kentstown.

 Disabled Parking

Disabled Car Parking is provided within the VIP car park off the N51 adjacent to the Event site. This car park can be accessed via Navan. Prior permission should be obtained from the concert promoters MCD to avail of these car parking facilities.

 Resident’s Parking

 Residents will be accommodated at each car park mentioned above. An area of the car park will be kept for residents only and MCD will have a courtesy car available for residents to use to bring them to their location. Residents looking to attend mass on both Saturday and Sunday will be permitted to park at the cemetery car park.  These road closures will remain in place until approximately 2:00 a.m. on Sunday the 19th of July when the concert is over and all patrons have safely left. Entrance to this car park will be via the Grangegeeth Road. Once again the MCD courtesy cars will be available to assist patrons looking to attend mass

Emergency Routes

 The emergency routes are in place to allow emergency vehicles such as Ambulance and Fire Brigade travelling between Navan and Drogheda to divert around Slane without encountering any delays.  There are two routes outlined, running to the North and South of Slane Village.
