Witness appeal - Fatal traffic collision Hartstown, Dublin 3rd January 2016

Gardaí in Blanchardstown are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision which occurred in Hartstown, Dublin on the 3rd January 2016.

At approximately 2.40am two female pedestrians (40s) were seriously injured when they were struck by a car on Hartstown Road. Both were taken by ambulance to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown. One of the women was later pronounced dead, the second remains in a serious condition. The occupants of the car, three males (20s) were uninjured in the collision.
The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of ‘drink driving’ and taken to Blanchardstown Garda Station. He was later charged and released to appear before a sitting of Blanchardstown District Court later this month.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have examined the scene and the road has since reopened to traffic.  The Coroner has been notified.
