Drugs Seizure and Arrest Cork City 19th February 2016 ( Alprazolam Tablets Street Value €20,000)

Following an intelligence led operation by the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau together with the Cork Divisional Drugs Unit and Revenue Customs Services one man in his 40’s was arrested in Cork today (Friday 19th February 2016) Approximately 10,000 Alprazolam tablets (subject to analysis) with an estimated street value of €20,000 were seized.


The man is currently detained at Anglesea Street Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
