Drugs and Firearms Seizure in Castleknock, Dublin on the 22/8/16

As part of a significant investigation into serious organised crime in the Dublin Region involving organised crime, Gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau including the Serious Crime Task Force supported by local Gardaí carried out a search of an apartment in the Castleknock area of Dublin today (22/8/16).

During the course of the search a submachine gun and ammunition were recovered together with a significant quantity of Cocaine (subject to analysis). Drug paraphernalia along with mixing agents was also recovered during the course of this search.

One man in his 30’s has been arrested in connection with this investigation and is currently detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 – Offences Against the State Act 1939. Investigations are continuing.
 
These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
