Illegal Coursing of Hares Tipperary on the 28/10/15

On this the 28th of October 2015 a joint operation by An Garda Siochana and the National Parks and Wildlife Service conducted a large scale operation into the illegal coursing at a number of locations across County Tipperary.

A total of nine (9) persons have been arrested and are currently detained under the Provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended for offences under the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 at Cahir, Thurles, Tipperary, Templemore and Clonmel Garda Stations.  A number of "Lurcher” breed dogs have been seized along with equipment involved in this illegal activity. 
 
This operation targeted persons who illegally trespass on lands with Lurcher dogs and engage in offences contrary  the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 and carries a penalty of up to 5 years imprisonment on indictment.
