Man arrested - Attempted abduction in Cullahill, Co. Laois on the 4/3/15

Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with an attempted abduction which occurred at Cullahill County Laois yesterday 4th March 2015.

The man was arrested in County Kilkenny this afternoon and is currently en route to Portlaoise Garda Station.

The stolen vehicle, registration number 04 KK 2649 has been located and recovered by Gardaí.

Gardaí wish to thank the media and the public for their assistance in this matter. No further action is required.

Gardai in Portlaoise are appealing to members of the public in assisting them to trace the whereabouts of a silver Nissan X-Trail 4 x 4 vehicle, registration number believed to be 04 KK 2649.


This vehicle is believed to have been involved in an alleged serious incident in Cullahill, County Laois on the 4th March 2015 at approximately 11 am. The male driver is described as approximately 6’2” thin build, grey hair  The vehicle was seen acting suspiciously in the area prior to the incident. This 4x4 was reported stolen in the Co. Kilkenny area on the 3rd March 2015.

Anyone with any information in relation to the location of this vehicle is asked to contact 999, 112 or Portlaoise Garda station on 057 8674100.
