Fatal road traffic collision at Tullow, Carlow on the 20/2/15

Gardai in Baltinglass, Co Wicklow are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Knockloe, Tullow on the 20th February 2015.

The collision involving four vehicles occurred at approximately 6.10pm at Knockloe on the Tullow to Shilleagh road (R725). A female (61 years) passenger in one car was seriously injured in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.


She was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post mortem is expected to be carried out later today the 21st February 2015. The male driver (71 years) of this car was also injured and was taken to St Luke's hospital for treatment. The male driver (45 years) of a second car was also was taken to St Luke's hospital for treatment. The drivers (male 29 years and female 28 years) of the other two cars were uninjured, they were the sole occupants of their cars.


The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and has since re-opened.
