Man and woman arrested and charged in connection with burglary/unauthorised taking investigation at Balbriggan, Dublin on the 30/8/15

Gardaí have charged a man and a woman, both aged in their mid 20's, in connection with an investigation into a burglary and the unauthorised taking of a vehicle which occurred in Balbriggan on Saturday 29th August 2015.

They are due to appear before Dublin District Court 4, Criminal Courts of Justice, tomorrow morning, Monday 1st September 2015 at 10.30am. They remain in Garda custody.


The man and woman were arrested last night, 29th August close to Balbriggan town and were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Balbriggan Garda Station.


During the incident a Garda suffered serious, non life threatening injuries, after being struck by a car which was subject of an unauthorised taking. He was taken to Beaumont Hospital where his condition is described as stable.


Two other Gardaí received minor injuries, one requiring hospital treatment at Beaumont.
Two Garda vehicles were also damaged during the incident.
