Press Briefing- Launch of Banknotewatch / Monday 24th June 2013 at 2pm

Assistant Commissioner Derek Byrne National Support Services along with other stakeholders will launch the Banknotewatch Initiative on Monday 24th June 2013 at 2pm in Venue: An Garda Síochána ,Dublin Metropolitan Region Conference Room, Harcourt Square, Harcourt Street Dublin 2.

Assistant Commissioner Derek Byrne will be joined at the press briefing by representatives from, The Irish Banking Federation, Cash-in-Transit Partners, An Post and Credit Unions, all of which promotes this campaign.

Banknotewatch is a crime prevention initiative which promotes the fact that a dye-stained banknote is probably a stolen banknote. Such dye stained euro banknotes are the proceeds of crime.

The work of Banknotewatch encourages the immediate withdrawal of dye-stained banknotes from circulation.

Following the launch interviews will be facilitated and a photo opportunity will be provided when a cash in transit security box, stained notes will be demonstrated.
