Attempted Armed Robbery Saggart 6th July 2013

At approximately 9.15pm on Saturday 6th July 2013 a male, 34 years, entered a bookmakers on Main Street, Saggart, County Dublin, armed with what is believed to be a handgun (subject to technical examination) and demand cash.

 He left the premises empty handed and while attempting to leave the scene he was disarmed and restrained by an off duty member of An Garda Síochána. The firearm was recovered at scene and the male was subsequently arrested and is currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended.
 
No shots were fired and no injuries were reported. 
 

A second male involved in this attempted robbery fled the scene. Investigations are ongoing.
