Operation on the M4, Kilcock on the 23/4/13

Gardai involved in an operation targeting criminal activity in the Dublin Region, were involved in an incident on the M4 which led to the arrest of 5 men.

The operation began at about 1.40a.m. this morning, the 23rd April 2013 when a silver Ford Mondeo was observed close to Newcastle, Co. Dublin.  When attempts were made to stop this vehicle it was driven off at high speed towards Lucan.  The Mondeo drove westbound on the M4, the assistance of the Garda Air Support Unit was requested and they were able to relay the vehicle location to units on the ground.  A 'stinger' device was deployed and the vehicle successfully stopped on the M4 close to Kilcock and this led to the arrest of the 5 occupants.


Two juveniles and three teenage males were arrested and taken to Leixlip Garda Station. Three of these youths were later charged and released on bail to appear at Kilcock District Court on 21st May 2013 at 10.30 a.m.  The two juveniles will be cautioned under the Juvenile Deferral System.
