As part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Naas area Detectives from Naas assisted by members from the Organised Crime Unit (OCU) stopped and searched a car in the Naas area yesterday afternoon (5/10/12).
During the course of the search cannabis resin was recovered with an estimated street value of €34,000 (subject to analysis). Two men were arrested ( 40yrs & 41yrs) at the scene and conveyed to Naas Garda Station. Both men were detained under the provisions of Section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
In a follow-up operation yesterday afternoon (5/10/12) an apartment was searched and during the course of this search cocaine / cannabis herb / cannabis resin was recovered with an estimated street value of €83,000 (subject to analysis). Cash and drug paraphernalia was also recovered.
One of the men detained was released without charge this morning (6/10/12). A file will now be prepared for the information of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The second man remains in custody.
Investigations are continuing.
