Appeal on fourth Anniversary of Murder of Gavin McCarthy, Store Street

Gardai in Store Street appeal for information on the fourth anniversary of the murder of Gavin McCarthy.

On the evening of Sunday, the 19th October 2008 at approximately 9pm at Lower Sheriff Street, Dublin 1 Gavin McCarthy was fatally wounded in a shooting incident.


Gavin McCarthy, 21 years of age, lived with his family in the North Wall Community.  Gavin  was well known in the area and a familiar face to Sheriff Street residents.


On the evening of Sunday, 19th October 2008 close to 9pm Gavin was in the company of his brother and others standing outside a fast food outlet on Lower Sheriff Street.  After leaving the Chinese takeaway, the deceased was approached by a male on a pedal cycle and shot dead.


Now four years on from Gavin's death, Gardai are hopeful that peoples circumstances may have changed and anyone with information is urged to contact the Incident Room at Store Street Garda Station on 01-6668089 or contact the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
