In light of recent media reports about security at the offices of the Moriarty Tribunal, it should be noted that An Garda Síochána regularly carries out security checks in State offices and buildings.
These can be conducted as routine or on request and cover both physical and technical infrastructure.
Our general policy is not to comment in any detail on security matters in order to protect the integrity and effectiveness of our role in this area. An Garda Síochána has found no evidence of interference with the telephone system at these offices and consequently there is no ongoing investigation into the matter.
