Discovery of female body in Castlebar, Mayo on the 9/3/11 - Post mortem results

A post mortem examination on the body of 46 year old Noreen Kelly was completed last night(9/3/11) by the Deputy State Pathologist, Dr. Curtis.

The cause of death has been establishes as stab wounds.   A man in his early 20's remains in custody, he is currently detained at Caslebar Garda Station under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí at Castlebar, Co. Mayo are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a 46 year old woman’s body at a house at Derrycrieve, Islandeady, Castlebar, Mayo at approximately 1.40am this morning (9/3/11).

The scene has been preserved pending a Garda Technical examination and the state pathologist’s office has been notified.  The body remains at the scene.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
