Gardaí from Donnybrook who are investigating a serious sexual assault on a female that occurred on the 26th October 2008 are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a male who they feel may be able to assist them with their investigation.

The assault took place in Elmpark in Ranelagh at approximately 2.30am on the date in question.  The female had walked out from South King Street in the city centre to Ranelagh where the violent assault took place.

Pictures of a male who was in the area at the time are available on the Garda website, www.garda.ie.  We would ask that members of the public who know the male, or who may know of his whereabouts contact Gardaí at Donnybrook (01 666 9200) the Garda Confidential Line (1800 666 111) or any Garda station.

Speaking in Donnybrook Garda station today, Superintendent Finbarr O'Brien stated. “We are very keen to speak with this a man, we have made exhaustive enquiries to date in relation to this very serious sexual assault but have failed to identify this witness.  The investigation team here in Donnybrook would be very grateful for any assistance the community can provide.  This incident occurred a year ago on the 26th October 2008.  The images of this man  are on the homepage of the Garda website and are of a very good quality, someone out there must know him“.
