Attempted robbery at Monasterevin, Kildare on the 16/3/09.

Gardaí at Kildare received a call to the effect that an armed robbery was taking place at The Hazel Hotel in Monasterevin.

 

Shortly after 3.30am on the 16/3/09 Gardaí at Kildare received a call to the effect that an armed robbery was taking place at The Hazel Hotel in Monasterevin.

Garda members from Newbridge and Kildare went immediately to the scene and a dark coloured car was seen speeding out of Barrow Close, opposite the hotel, in the direction of Dublin.

On further investigation of this incident 3 men were arrested in a wooded area at Clogheen, Monasterevin.

A loaded sawn off shot gun was also recovered from a car on Drogheda Street.  An attempt had been made to steal this car.

The 3 men are aged 18, 20 and 35 years and are detained at Kildare and Newbridge Garda Stations under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.
