Oxegen Festival 2009 - Update

Naas Gardai urge all patrons traveling today (Friday) to adhere to the Garda Traffic Management details published on the Garda website.

 

Oxegen ’09 got underway yesterday evening  - 9th July 2009 with music fans making their way to Punchestown Racecourse in Co. Kildare for the three-day music festival which officially begins today.

 

There are currently approximately 30,000 people on site with a further 35,000 expected today – Friday 10th July.

 


The Traffic Management Plan went very well on Thursday with 18,000 patrons arriving by bus and the remainder by car.

 

Naas Gardai urge all patrons traveling today (Friday) to adhere to the Garda Traffic Management details published on the Garda website, use public transport and follow directional signage and directions of the Gardai and stewards to the event.

 

Full use of the Park and Ride facilities in Goffs is encouraged.

 

The total number of arrests was 12 - for offences including Public Order, and Possession of Controlled Drugs.

 

A number of drug seizures were also made.
