Gardai are renewing their appeal for assistance in identifying a male who passed away in Rathmines on the 18/1/09

The deceased was known as Neil Cappleman, and his date of birth was the 2nd July 1950.

Gardai in Rathmines are renewing their appeal for the public’s assistance in identifying a male who passed away at his residence in Rathmines on the 18th January 2009 from natural causes. The deceased was known as Neil Cappleman, and his date of birth was the 2nd July 1950.

The case was featured on the June 23rd episode of Crimecall (http://www.garda.ie/Crimecall/Default.aspx#3855). Neil has the word ‘Alan’ tattooed on his fore fingers.

He lived at Hazelwood House in Rathmines which is sheltered accommodation.

Enquiries to date indicate the deceased was known as Neil Cappleman. This may or may not be his real name. Garda are anxious to establish this mans identity. Gardai are anxious to trace a next of kin for the deceased. His remains are at present in the Dublin City Morgue.

Enquiries have been made in the United Kingdom. In particular in the Newscastle-Upon-Tyne areas where the deceased may have lived. To date enquires have failed to confirm the identity of the deceased or a next of kin. Documentation would suggest the deceased had a brother John in the United States of America and a sister Marion in Canada (no further details or addresses are available).

Following up on from help from the public, new information has come to light which would suggest that Neil also has connections in Liverpool.

The deceased may have had some interaction with the navy possibly in the United Kingdom.

Enquiries have been made in a number of jurisdictions and Gardai would like to establish his identity and trace a next of kin.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Rathmines Garda Station at 01  6666700, any Garda station or the Garda confidential telephone number 1800 666 111.
