Shooting incident on the North Circular Road, Dublin on the 23/8/09

Three persons arrested are being detained at Store Street and Mountjoy Garda Stations.


Gardaí at Fitzgibbon Street are investigating a shooting incident that occurred shortly after 2am this morning, the 23/8/09 on North Circular Road, Dublin 1.

 

Two men were standing in the hallway of a house when a shot was fired at them from a shotgun.  One of the men suffered a shotgun wound to his upper body and the other man received a head injury but was not believed to be hit by the shot.  Both men's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

 

There were 3 culprits involved in this incident and when the crew of the Fitzgibbon Street detective patrol car arrived at scene they gave chase on foot.

 

They arrested 2 of the culprits in the vicinity of Simmons Place.

 

The Air Support Unit assisted in the search for the 3rd individual.  He was subsequently found and arrested by Gardaí from Mountjoy on Healy Street.

 

A technical and forensic examination will take place of the scene which is being preserved.

 

All 3 persons arrested are being detained at Store Street and Mountjoy Garda Stations under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.  Two of the men are 20 years old and the third is 18 years.
