Attempted robbery of Post Office at Bayside on the 28/8/09

Two males entered the premises and threatened staff and customers with a handgun and a knife.

 

Gardai at Howth have arrested 2 males in their 20’s after an attempted armed robbery at Bayside Post Office which occurred at approximately 9.25am this morning, the 28/08/09.

 

The 2 males entered the premises and threatened staff and customers with a handgun and a knife. One shot was discharged. No-one was injured and no money was taken.

 

They fled the scene on a motorbike and were pursued by uniformed and Detective Gardai. They were arrested at Bayside train station a short time later.

 

A motorbike and handgun (which will be subject to technical examination) have been recovered by Gardai.

 

Both men are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act  1939 - 1 in Raheny and 1 in Howth.
