Gardai at Finglas investigating the armed robbery of a security van at Cappagh Post Office, Finglas, Dublin 11 at approximately 4.20 pm on Wednesday 8th October 2008, are appealing to the public for information.

The security van was making a lodgement when one of the security company employees was set upon by a gunman who stole a money-box containing an undisclosed amount of cash.  The culprit made his getaway on a motorcycle driven by a waiting accomplice.  Euro currency contained in the box is now believed to be in circulation in Dublin city.  These notes are distinctive as they have been discoloured by a red security dye.

An Garda Siochana would urge members of the public and retailers alike to be on the look out for these notes and to immediately contact their local Garda station, Finglas Garda station 01-6667500 or the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111.

Photographs of cash discoloured my similar red dye are available on request from the Garda Press Office.
