St. Patrick's Day Festival - Garda Information/Advice.

This is a "fun" festival and An Garda Siochana provides the following information / advice with a view to ensuring that the entire Community enjoys this festival.

 

This festival will take place between the 13th and the 17th of March 2008.

This is a "fun" festival and An Garda Siochana provides the following information / advice with a view to ensuring that the entire Community enjoys this festival.     

 

The public are advised to:    

Plan their journeys, depart in good time and use public transport where possible.  

If using private cars, authorised car parks should be used.  

Valuable items should not be left in parked vehicles.  

Valuable items should, if left in a vehicle, be stored out of sight.

Those attending events should comply with the directions of the Gardai / festival organisers.     

 

This festival is organised with the co-operation of a large number of organisations, including Dublin City Council, Public Transport Providers, City Centre Business Associations, An Garda Siochana, etc.

More detailed information on the festival evenA St. Patrick’s Festival information booth will be in place at the Molly Malone Statue in Grafton Street between 9am and 10 pm on the 13th-17th March 2008 inclusive.  

 

Summary of Main Events:     

Funfair on the 13th to the 17th March 2008 - 12 mid day to 11pm each day at Merrion Square West.     

Road Closure from 10.00 pm Tuesday 11th to 10.00 pm on Tuesday 18th March, 2008.       

 

Big Day Out-Street Theatre on 16th March 2008 - 12 mid-day to 6pm at Merion Square – South, West, Fitzwilliam Street Lower and Merrion Street.    

Road Closure from 08.00 am to 20.00 pm on Sunday 16th March, 2008.   

 

5k Road Race - 16th March 2008 - 8.30am to 12 mid day. Race start 10 am. at Dawson Street, St. Stephen's Green, Baggot Street, Herbert Place, Lesson Street.

Road Closure from 08.30 am to 12.00 mid-day on Sunday 16th March 2008.  

 

St Patrick’s Day parade - 17th March 2008 - Starts 12 noon to 2.15 pm.  Start Parnell Square and finish at Patrick Street.     

Road Closure from 7am and roads will reopen at 4 pm (earlier if Possible).

 

Ceili - 17th March 2008 - from 2.30 pm to 6pm. at Earlsfort Terrace.  

Road Closure from 08.00 am to 8.00 pm on Monday 17th March 2008.  

   

An Garda Siochana have consulted widely with the Community with a view to minimising the disruption to the public generally and in particular those residents and business people in the affected areas.
