Members from An Garda Siochana will complete in Paris Marathon on the 6th April, 2008, in aid of GOAL.
Some one hundred (100) members from An Garda Siochana will complete in Paris Marathon on the 6th April, 2008, in aid of GOAL.
The party will depart Dublin on the 5th April, 2008 and will be received by the Irish Ambassador to France, Ms. Anne Anderson at a reception at the Irish Embassy on arrival.
Each participant is funding their own expenses and each have pledged to raise a minimum of €1,000, resulting in a target in excess of €100,000, of which every cent will go directly to GOAL.
The Gardai concerned are drawn primarily from the Special Detective Unit at Harcourt Square, but also come from other Stations and Sections throughout the Dublin Metropolitan Region and Garda Headquarters.
The Garda Commissioner, Mr. Fachtna Murphy, on his own behalf and on behalf of all members of An Garda Siochana, has extended best wishes to the Gardai involved.
